Welcome to Lightning Class
Our Teacher is Miss Yates and our Special Support Assistant is Miss Galbraith.
We are building a growth mindset!
Happy Royal Wedding!
What a fantastic day we have had celebrating the Royal Wedding!
We came to school dressed in our finest clothes. Then, we planned and led a Christian Wedding service. We also watched a video of a Hindu celebration.
Next, we had our first dance.
After playtime it was speeches and toasts with fizz!
Finally, we had a Royal Family Tree Quiz. Miss Yates' team were the winners!
Lightning Class you are all Prince and Princesses!
Welcome back to school. We hope you all had a lovely Easter break.
Lightning class have had a very busy week beginning a new topic. Our topic is 'The Wind in the Willows'.
We have been reading the story in English and learning about the characters.
In the afternoon we have been learning about habitats. Firstly we looked at the habitats we had heard in the story. Then we learnt about our habitat, a local habitat and now we have made a habitat for mini beasts. We will keep you updated on any new arrivals in our habitats. What a busy week!
This morning we wrapped up warm and went to play in the snow. We don't often get snow so it was very exciting! We built a new snow friend to join our class. We hope he doesn't melt!
We had been on a spring walk last week but now we think it is still definitely winter.
This half term we have been learning about Explorers. We found out about Neil Armstrong, Amelia Earhart and Christopher Columbus.
We designed and made explorer vehicles that we could use on the moon. We had to be very careful when we were using the saw!
We have been trying really hard with our handwriting this half term and Miss Yates is very proud of how neat our writing is getting.
We ended the half term with a fantastic explorer dress up day! We tried lots of fun activities including investigating moon sand, writing like an astronaut, making a moon picture, designing an alien and building a rocket.
What an exciting half term we have had! It has been very busy. We enjoyed learning about bonfire night with some line art; we dressed up for Children in Need and made spotty biscuits; we wrote Thank You letters to the Brave Soldiers on Remembrance Day; we tried yoga with Ash; we went on a phonics treasure hunt; we learnt about Jack and the Beanstalk; we wrote instructions; we did a pea and snot experiment; we learnt our Nativity and impressed Miss Yates with a fantastic performance; we made Christingles and sang beautiful songs; finally we had a fun Christmas Party with a special visitor who we sang Jingle Bells to!
Not to forget we have looked after one of Santa's Elves. Flash has been to visit most days with an exciting letter and kindness certificates.
Merry Christmas from Lightning Class!
We have made a great start to the year - take a look!
