How do we set homework at St.Paul's?
Every child has a homework book. Each half term the children are given tasks to complete at home. These are based on the work they are doing in school or are in preparation for something they are going to be learning about. Each class will be given a selection of homework tasks to complete from which they must do at least 2 and they are welcome to complete as many others as they like.
We encourage the children to be as creative as possible. They can complete the tasks in any way they want to. For example, they could draw pictures, label them, take photographs, write lists, stick in food labels, research from books or the internet—or anything else they can think of. They can display their work in any way they wish—painted, sketched, printed, coloured or collage. They can include any work they would like to (unless otherwise stated—poems, stories, information, plays, facts, instructions, interviews with family members, lift the flaps, pockets with letters in, pictures cut out from newspapers or magazines and so on; as long as it completes the task.
Children receive their homework at the beginning of each half term to be completed in that half term. If a child does not understand what they have to do they can ask for more information from their teachers who are always happy to help.
