The Worship Team

The Worship Team in action!

The Worship Team is made up of Year 5 and 6 pupils. Mrs. Scholz sent out an advert to both of our top junior classes asking for applications and we wrote to Mrs. Scholz to explain our suitability for the role. The successful candidates were announced in worship and we were presented with a worship team badge. We meet with Mrs. Scholz weekly and do different jobs every week which help to make worship more interesting for everyone but also make sure that we are actively involved in planning and delivering worship. In whole school worship we have:

We also find out what the children think about worship in school - what they like and how we can make it better.

  • Led prayers

  • Read passages from the Bible

  • Acted out Bible stories

  • Performed mini dramas to tell stories

  • Planned and led our own worship on the true meaning of Christmas

    We also:

  • put up posters in every classroom with post-it notes attached so that children can write up requests for hymns they would like to sing or share ideas for things they would like to pray for/about in whole school worship. At the end of the half term we collect these ideas and Mrs. Scholz holds a ‘Request Worship’. The prayers the children have suggested are divided into thank you, sorry and please prayers and these are read out along with the name of the child who made the request. The prayers are punctuated by hymns requested by the children.

  • Run competitions – such as asking the children to write a poem or produce a piece of artwork to show how God’s love spreads hope through the world or create the most beautifully decorated prayer for our Prayer Tree. Prizes are awarded to the infant and junior winner and photos of the Worship Team’s favourite entries are included in the half termly Worship Team Newsletter which goes out to all parents.

  • Give out certificates in Worship to anyone we think has made a good contribution - it could be for a thoughtful answer, lovely singing or sharing a prayer!

The Worship Team's Lord's Prayer

We performed this for everyone in a Worship about the Lord's Prayer and Forgiveness. We're going to teach it to the infant classes because they enjoyed it so much!
