Welcome to Tornadoes Class
We have had a great start back to our second half term and are now focusing on making even greater progress across both Year 3 and 4. The children are having a positive attitude to their learning, having focused on growth and fixed mindsets last half term.
We value your support at home in helping your child make progress. Learning spellings and the 12 times tables whenever possible will allow your child to make even further progress.
We encourage children to read their books at home at least 5 times a week. Please support your child with their reading and sign their reading journal once you have heard them read. Even for 5 or 10 minutes.
If at any point you would like to speak to myself about your child or their learning, please do not hesitate to arrange a meeting, either through the office or in person.
Swimming Monday and PE Wednesdays
Please ensure all items of PE kit are clearly labelled and in school for the first week back. They will remain in school until half term. Please ensure you have removed any earrings on this day as children will not be able to do PE with earrings in. Please note that adults in school are not allowed to remove the earrings and plasters over earrings are not permitted.
Some PE lessons will be outdoors so tracksuit trousers/leggings would be advisable.
As your child is in the juniors, there is an expectation that they take responsibility for their own belongings. Please ensure that all uniform is clearly labelled. The children will be encouraged to place any belongings in their own tray within the classroom. No toys or pencils cases are allowed in school.
Please remind your child to hand any letters that may need to be collected to a member of staff rather than leaving it in their reading bag. Children also need to take their reading books out of their bags and place in an allocated reading book box in the morning if it needs to be changed. At first staff will remind children each morning of this routine.
Homework challenges will be set each half term linked to our Topic. There will be a choice of creative and fun activities to choose from that can be brought in weekly and displayed in the classroom. The children will earn VIP points for each piece of homework that is handed in. Your child will have been given a copy of the homework challenges in their yellow homework book.
Times tables Children will we tested weekly on a Monday morning on a mixture of times tables. These will be sent home to work on ones they may struggle in. Please encourage your child to practice times tables, either through writing these down or recalling them to an adult.
