World Book Day - 2nd March 2017
Mrs Tomes chose the book Peter Pan for our book day theme. One of our classmates had been in the pantomime Peter Pan earlier in the year and Mrs Tomes thought that having a class of pirates, Tinkerbelle's Indians, lost boys, pyjama clad children and Peter Pans may be fun. Tornadoes did a marvellous job of dressing to impress and we had Peter Pan themed activities all day.
We started with treasure chest maths questions and some time work identifying what time Captain Hook's watch stopped when the crocodile bit off his arm.
Our Literacy work was to write a pirate poem.
After lunch Mrs Tomes changed into her pirate costume and we had great fun playing Captains Coming. We climbed the rigging, swung on ropes across the crocodile swamp, manned the lifeboats, walked the planks and even scrubbed the decks! Take a look at our action photos.
Finally we managed to cram in a 'make it' activity. We made paper chain crocodiles.
Our day ended with our captain sharing the booty, chocolate coins were shared amongst the crew!
